Your highly trained Audiologist will begin by reviewing relevant aspects of your medical history, hearing health and any concerns you may have. They will take the time to discuss your symptoms, hearing history and ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) health, as well as any difficulties you experience with hearing in everyday situations. We may also discuss other relevant factors, including your family history of hearing problems, previous exposure to loud noise, earwax concerns, tinnitus and any other ear-related issues.

What happens at a hearing consultation?
A hearing consultation, or ear health check, is a chance for your audiologist to look inside your ears, understand any symptoms you’ve been having, and talk through the options that would help. It’s a good starting point if you’re not sure whether wax, an infection, or something else is behind your symptoms.
Your audiologist will take a brief history of your concerns, examine your ears with an otoscope, and explain what they find in plain language. If wax or debris is present, they can usually remove it there and then with microsuction. If further investigation is needed, they’ll explain your options, including a full diagnostic hearing assessment.
When to book one
A consultation is worth booking if you have ear pain or pressure, a feeling of fullness, occasional tinnitus, or you simply want a professional opinion on your ear health without committing to a full audiometry test straight away.
